The Science of the Red Planet

Ad Astra tells the story of the search for intelligent life elsewhere in the universe gone wrong. In the near future, a mission sent to Neptune to listen for intelligent signals results in the endangerment of life on Earth. Now, an astronaut named Roy McBride must go on a top secret mission around the solar system to stop the gamma ray bursts coming from Neptune by destroying the ship causing them from its antimatter engines. Upon arriving at Neptune, Roy learns that we are truly alone in the universe. This was a good movie but it was weird. It was a psychological thriller more than anything else.

A Neptune-sized planet has been found orbiting an Earth-sized White Dwarf. Surprisly, the tiny star is stripping the giant planet of its atmosphere.
Dear Carol,
There is no "Questions and Answers" part of the blog anymore. Thank you for pointing that out. Now that each individual story gets its own post, the "Comments" I respond to get their own post. Sorry for the mix-up. Thanks. Sincerely, Ryan Knipple A new exoplanet, K2-18 b, is found to have water vapor in its atmosphere. It orbits a red dwarf star in 33 days about 110 light-years from Earth in the constellation Leo the Lion.
Exoplanet: a planet that orbits a star other than Earth's Sun. Scientists have developed a small, toaster-oven sized atomic clock that can be used on future space probes to help keep time more accurately and to make communications between Earth and space probes more efficient.
Two new advances have been made in the future colonization of space. Astronauts have made cement in a zero-g environment and a CubeSat is being sent to test out an orbit around the moon for a future luar space station called "Gateway"
Not long after the description of ploonets (moons that escaped the pull of its host planet and went into orbit around the host star), scientists are now seeing one being destroyed around Tabby's Star in the constellation Cygnus approximately 1,470 light-years from Earth.
