Mars Attacks and John Carter fans rejoice! Both worlds collide in this comic book series. The Mars Attacks aliens, known on Barsoom (Mars) as the Moonhead, are hell bent on destroying all life and destroy Barsoom's atmosphere plants in an alternate universe. A universe that collides with our own with the landing of the Mars InSight probe. Now, the Moonhead are invading Earth in our own universe. The only one who stands between us and destruction is American Civil War veteran John Carter who finds his way back to Earth in 2019! This is my new favorite comic book series! (also, this comic book series has just been released)
Tula has helped Luke and his friends escape the grasp of the Empire on the moon of Hubin. Luke and his friends fight Imperial forces on Novka to steal ships to get back to the Rebellion. After a conversion between Threepio and a Huttese-speaking alien, Threepio gets new legs and Luke and Han Solo manage to reunite with the Millenium Falcon and Chewie. Meanwhile, Leia gets back to the Rebellion and plans an attack on Queen Trios of Shu-Torun. Marvel has done a great job of bringing the original Star Wars back to life for a whole new generation.
Thor has created a new Earth for humans to flourish on. However, the universe around this New Earth is dying and Thor must go to the edge of the universe in search of life, leaving his three granddaughters to look after Thor's creation. Now, Thor must deal with a Phoenix-possessed Wolverine, a living planet called Ego the Necroworld, and a pesky little worm on Ego who is Loki in disguise. Meanwhile, Thor's granddaughters must fight a returning dragon and his minions. The fate of the universe and the new Earth hangs in the balance. This is the best comic book I have read in a long time.
A sequel to Outpost, Abandoned returns to the story of the lost colony on the planet Donovan, 30 light-years from Earth, so far away that Lieutenant Deb Spiro and Yvette doubt they will ever see Earth again. Meanwhile, the wildlife on Donovan moves in on the colony including a huge, three-eyed dragon-like beast called a quetzal and four-winged clawed creatures called Death Fliers. Amid the chaos, colonist Talbot finds a young girl named Kylee and the small quetzal named Rocket she keeps as a pet. Talbot and Kylee fall in love, have sex, and are about to get married when both Kylee and Rocket are injured. Lieuitenant Spiro loses her mind and shoots and kills Rocket. As it turns out, on Donovan, the wildlife is not the most dangerous thing, it's humans! This book was more specific on alien creatures than Outpost was and is a moderately good read. Just keep it out of reach of children due to the sex and violence.
A prequel to the Transformers trilogy, Bumblebee tells the story of a Transformer who is sent to protect Earth for the autobots. Bumblebee also meets underdog teenager, Charlie, who wants nothing more than to own her own car. When they meet and befriend each other, the battle for Earth begins. This movie was pure awesomeness! Better than I thought it would be.
This is your typical "stranded on a planet with dinosaurs" movie with mind-altering radiation. The CGI was terrible and the plot stunk to high heaven. Don't watch this!
In the wake of the formation of the Empire, a lone surviving Jedi named Ahsoka is looking for rebels and any other surviving Jedi on the moon Raada to join in her fight against the Empire. Meanwhile, on the city-planet of Coruscant, Bail Organa (Princess Leia's adoptive mother) struggles against the empire. Later in the book, Bail gives Ahsoka a ship in secret so she can search the galaxy for rebels to join her cause. Raada is a moon which orbits an uninhabitable planet. The book also mentions the ice world of Ilum. Star Wars fans and budding planetary scientists rejoice!
On route to a new planet in the Alpha Centauri system, the starship Godspeed's engine breaks and tensions flare between Amy and Orion, who works for the ship's government. Amy discovers that they are already at the planet called Centauri-Earth and have not landed. Amy learns from Orion that Centauri-Earth is inhabited by dangerous creatures and leads to a dark secret the Godspeed's government has kept for years. This book is a psychological thriller that proves, once and for all, that space is not the final frontier.
In a failing economy, billionaire Nathan Joyce puts forth a bold new plan: to start mining asteroids. Joyce hires a rag-tag team of adventurers to go on the first asteroid mining expedition. The team undergoes extensive training for the mission. On the asteroid, called Ryugu, the team finds metals and a new fuel source called Delta-V. However, the journey to and from the asteroid will not be without sacrifices. Unlike most other science fiction books, Delta-V has detailed illustrations of the spacecraft described in the novel. Delta-V is a fun read for those who dream of interplanetary exploration.
