The Science of the Red Planet
|
In the tradition shown in Solar Queen, Crosstime is a conglomeration of two novels. The Crossroads of Time tells the story of the revelation that our Earth is one of many Earths with different histories and that a technologically superior "Earth" has been reaching out to the other Earths to save them from themselves. This civilization has already reached out to the planets and stars of their universe. In one other "Earth", the Nazis (now known as "Nasties") won World War II. In Quest Crosstime, a mission is underway to another "Earth" were the Aztecs fought back the conquistadors and have conquered the Americas. Crosstime is an exploration into the "multiverse" theory proposed by some physicists today.
"Multiverse" theory: the theory that our universe is one of many universes, some with alternate histories, some with different laws of physics.

NASA of the United States, as well as, India and China, want to get to the Moon as soon as possible.
References: Washington Post You would think a comic book about Thor would have nothing to do with space. However, it is full of galaxies, alien races, regions beyond the stars, moons, asteroids, and, of course, the Norse worlds. Jane Foster is granted Thor's powers. Unfortunately, this gives her cancer. Nevertheless, she manages to save Asgard from the invading Shi'ar gods and the Phoenix. In the end, she reunites with the original Thor. Along the way, Jane stops a human sacrifice and meets a sentient island.
Alexandra Siy is an author of many children's books on space probes. Thus, teaching a new generation of scientists, astronauts, and explorers. Voyager's Greatest Hits This book is about the history of the Voyager missions. Cars on Mars This book is about the Mars Exploration Rovers: Spirit and Opportunity.
This book is all about Mars and the past and future exploration of the Red Planet. I have been a fan of Seymour Simon's work since I was a kid. I have also read Simon's The Solar System, Exoplanets, and Destination: Jupiter.
Exoplanets: "Extrasolar Planets", planets that orbit stars other than the Sun. In a future where magic is another form of technology, Pan-Galactic Racing Federation star "Boots" is kidnapped aboard the starship Capricious in search of the Taitutian warship Harrow with only a strange glyph to go by. Eventually, it is found on a small, red, iron-rich planetoid in a double-star system (the planetoid sounds like a smaller version of Mars from our own solar system) and the warship is returned to the planet Taitu. Despite the title, this book has nothing to do with the edge of the universe. What a shame! On the up side, this book includes extras.
The Rolling Thunder is a hollowed-out asteroid turned starship on a voyage to the New Sun system and the New Earth planet within it. To cut off travel time, the Rolling Thunder travels by black bubble (a warp in space-time) and its passengers are in cryosleep until they reach their destination, all run by a mysterious energy known only to its inventor Jubal Broussard. Now, the ship is forced to stop and only Jubal can help get the mission to New Earth back on its feet. I am a fan of this series of books by John Varley.
Cryosleep: Freezing the body to stop aging, a popular concept in science fiction. However, freezing your body would kill you in real life. This is actually two books combined into one. In Sargasso of Space, Captain Dane (also known as the "Viking") and the crew of the Solar Queen journey to the planet Limbo where they have to deal with its ghostly inhabitants. In Plague Ship, the Solar Queen is confused for the plague ship Polestar and is ordered to be destroyed. Now, Captain Dane must race against time to save his ship. This book includes locales in the real universe: Venus, Mars, the Asteroid Belt, the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, Rigel, and Sirius.
Purgatory is a lawless, crime-ridden colony on the Far Side of the Moon. Now, there is a murderous Leonardo android unit on the loose. When Damien Justus is exiled to the Moon, he follows the murders to the crime boss of the Moon, Fletcher Brass. This book follows in the tradition of lawless science fiction solar system colonies such as Andy Weir's Artemis, Robert J. Sawyer's Red Planet Blues, and Ty Drago's Phobos.
Far Side: The side of the Moon that is permanently faced away from Earth, also known as the "Dark Side" Based on the writings of Jules Verne, Splinter tells the story of one man's vision of the end of the world. After discovering an end-of-the-world cult, a giant intelligent alien asteroid destroys Earth and now, Hector Junior must survive on a "splinter" of Earth.
