The Science of the Red Planet
|
I am now a graduate student at Monmouth University and I am working on a book called "A history of the Study of Fossil Mammals." Given this, I have become too busy to continue this book. Also, it has become a source of stress for me. It's just not worth it. I hope somebody will carry the torch and take the idea behind Mars: The Science of the Red Planet and make it into another blog or even a magazine (the magazine idea is what started this blog). I might come back to this blog later when I am not so busy and stressed. Until then, keep looking up!

Avenue 5 is a comedy from HBO about an interplanetary cruise ship doomed to wander the universe for years longer than its intended voyage starring Hugh Laurie from House and Josh Gad from Frozen. This show is funny as hell!
Scientists have found both an Earth-like world in its habitable zone and a more distant super-Earth located just 4.2 light-years away around the next closest star to us: Proxima Centauri!
Scientists have detected a layer of trapped water vapor around Jupiter's moon, Europa, making the search for life there easier.
A fossil expedition to Australia to find the oldest fossilized life forms (stromatolites) is being used to help the Mars 2020 rover mission to search for ancient life on the red planet. Being an amateur paleontologist myself, I feel a personal connection to this story.
Stromatolites: mounds of layers of cyanobacteria It is possible that the strange orbits on the outer limits of our solar system may not be due to a hidden planet but a baseball-sized black hole, a new study shows.
Scientists have developed a new astronaut "smart glove" that will allow astronauts headed for Mars to operate equipment by wireless.
Mars is in the constellation Ophiuchus the Serpent-bearer above the southeast horizon in the early morning (predawn) sky.
In the 23rd century, it's a melee throughout the solar system as Earth, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt fight over resources as an alien life-form known as the "protomolecule" threatens human life on all the planets while it opens a gate to other solar systems and humans become an interstellar species. In the middle of all this is the hardy crew of the stolen Martian freighter renamed the "Rocinante" captained by James Holden who has a special connection to the protomolecule. My mom and I couldn't stop binge watching this show. This is an action-packed way to learn about our solar system (though it is science fiction). We can't wait until the next season!
